Overall, it met and slightly exceeded my expectations. It’s an Econo Lodge, I didn’t expect five star. I expected a clean place to sleep with a few amenities - and that’s what I got. It was definitely dated but they seemed to be remodeling. The pool worked and the kids enjoyed it. I called several hotels ahead of time to ask questions about the pool and breakfast, the lady at this location was by far the nicest and most helpful. Room had a mini fridge and microwave, both worked. Breakfast was waffles, biscuits and gravy, cold cereal and a few boxed pastries - again, it did the job. A few friends stayed at another similarly priced hotel near by - and I was glad I picked this one.

Clean room. Comfortable enough bed to get a decent sleep. Great TV and WiFi. Good water pressure. No coffee maker in the room. The fridge worked great, but the microwave did not. Tried calling front desk and phone didn’t work. Bedside clock was unplugged, but did not work when plugged in. No real protein offerings at breakfast. Sausage gravy was offered, along with with the a plethora of bread and pastry selections. Price was good for what was given.

Located just off the highway and not far from the main part of town, it's not a bad hotel. It's under new ownership and the owner was an absolute blessing for my family. He was able to get us situated quickly with a room close to the entrance after our bad experience at the Red Roof and was very knowledgeable about the area. As far as the room itself, it wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst. A bit outdated, but nothing broken, at least. Could tell the room hadn't been used in a while. The beds could probably use a good cleaning, if that's possible. They were more comfortable than my bed at home and thank goodness there were no bedbugs. I liked the pillows, too. The air conditioner was fully functional and cooled off the room quickly. The breakfast in the morning was about typical for most economy hotels. The biscuits and gravy were a pleasant surprise though! If I come through again on my way home, I may stay here again. Will check back again next year to see how it's going when I come through on my usual trip. Can definitely say this place isn't bad for the price. Thank you again so much for all of your help during our stay!

This was a great place to stay! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. My room was updated and spacious. It was clean and comfortable, the shower had great pressure too! The price was affordable and very fair. I’d certainly stay here again!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Econo lodge I can confidently say it exceeds many five star establishments, From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and respect by the owner, who truly goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcomed. The cleanliness of the motel is remarkable; every corner reflects a commitment to maintaining a pristine environment. It’s clear that the staff takes great pride in their work, making the overall atmosphere inviting and comfortable. One of the standout features of my stay was the breakfast. It was not only delicious but also offered a great variety, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The motel’s dedication to service is evident 24/7, making it a reliable choice for travelers. Whether you need assistance or have a question, the staff is always available and eager to help. If you're looking for a place that combines exceptional service, cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend the Econo Lodge Motel in Ames. It truly is a hidden gem that outshines many higher-rated hotels.

Economical, clean, and friendly When you're travelling on a budget and just want a clean, quiet hotel room, then I can say this is perfect. Unfortunately, to get the minifridge and microwave, I had to upgrade to the handicap suite which added $20/night, but it was worth it for one night. The younger kids ended up using the pool and it was perfect for them (3-5ft). Overall, this place was very clean, safe, and quiet compared to many other places I've stayed. Expect the breakfast to be continental style (no eggs or sausage) too. Not sure what the regular rooms are like, but I will probably try a different hotel next time if staying multiple nights. $20/night for a microwave/fridge is probably too much to pay for multiple nights and no hot breakfast (eggs/sausage).

Better than it used to be. But I left my room and the door didn't lock from the outside, so that was troublesome. L I was supposed to have a king size bed but when I gothere at 630. The maid was still cleaning.

I've been staying here for awhile now and I feel like I'm at home. The owner and his wife are amazing people. The breakfast is great biscuits and gravy everyday or if that doesn't do it for ya there is an amazing waffle maker and yogurt or oatmeal like 5 different flavors. If your a coffee lover then you'll be happy because there coffee is actually fricken amazing. Overall I won't stay anywhere else if I'm in Ames I don't care about fancy hotels that say they do this or that. Oh yeah and the pool is the perfect temperature all year round. It's close to like 4 great restaurants and Wal Mart is a few blocks down the road. I love it here!!!!
